Car Service: Make Sure The Oil Level Is Correct

Refilling engine oil during slide car service (บริการรถสไลด์ which is the term in Thai) for example is a simple process because the container cap is large, easily identifiable, and easily accessible. But be careful: the container must not be overfilled. This could damage the engine, starting with the clogging of the so-called air box, which helps calm the intake air of the combustion engine. It is therefore not necessary to fill the container to the brim. The ideal level is indicated by a mark on the oil dipstick, which should be removed several times and reinserted into the engine housing to check the correct level.

It’s Time To Change

A complete oil change is a bit more complex. This is because the seal on the engine’s oil pan is only easy to reach when the car is on a lifting platform in a workshop. However, with a bit of effort, you can unscrew the lock yourself when you lie down under the vehicle. But two things are necessary for this: on the one hand, a high-quality screwdriver so as not to damage the head of the screw plug. On the other hand, the car must be on a level surface so that the oil pan can drain completely.

Important: Start By Warming Up The Vehicle.

Lay the oil pan below the cart. Now loosen the oil cover in the engine compartment, climb under the vehicle, unlock the pluck of the oil drain, and drain the warm oil. Loosen the oil filter, using a cloth and a little cleaning agent to clean the entire grease from the surface of the sealing beneath. Then lubricate the oil filter’s contact surfaces and screw it back on. Then tighten the screw of the oil drain back in place. After that, add fresh oil and on the engine for roughly 5 minutes. Finally, wait 2 minutes before checking the level of the oil.

Responsible Waste Disposal

Please note that used motor oil is classified as hazardous waste by law. If it is disposed of incorrectly or misused, it is a potent pollutant in all respects. Four kilos of motor oil, if poured into water, can contaminate an area the size of a soccer field. In principle, dealers and workshops that sell oil are also obliged to accept the same amount of used oil. So if you buy new oil, you can also hand in the old oil directly there. If the used oil is only returned later, the receipt must be kept. Regardless of the dealers, used oil can also be disposed of at local recycling centers. There is often a maximum amount that can be delivered per delivery. It fluctuates between five and seven liters. Anyone who returns used oil without buying a new one has to pay fees. This applies to both retail and recycling centers. An average of one to three euros must be paid per liter of waste oil. Used oil filters and other oily waste can either be disposed of in stores or at recycling centers.
